Adding Electronic module reduces system cost and eases installation

Roller shutters have traditionally required an Electrician to complete the installation. This is an additional expense and delay for the customer. Using solar power means there is no electrical connection and saves the customer from this expense. By making the Roller Shutter remote controlled the installer does not have to drill through the building wall which saves the customer from the expense and inconvenience of this.

CW Products have been supplying roller shutters including sola powered roller shutters for many years. The problems for supplying remote control roller shutters for use in the harsh Australian Environment are

• The remote control receiver is active all the time so it must use very little power
• The variation in light on the solar panels and the fact the battery will get hot in the summer makes the battery selection and battery charge control critical
• The solar panel must work well with indirect light as the roller shutter will not always be facing north west (southern Hemisphere) and often not have a clear view of the sky

The scope of this project went beyond the modules themselves to include the batteries, solar panels, wiring looms and plastics as well.

For the manufacture of the modules an End Of Line tester was provided that programs and performs full testing of every module (including RF) performance. The results feed back directly into our server. See more about our End Of Line Testers here.
